Oil leaks. My neighbors would complain about leaking cars at
curbside as I grew up. Oil on the street made the house look
bad. Poor curb appeal. Well, looking at the country from the
Gulf of Mexico, WOW! I guess we now have bad curb appeal
according to some of our neighbors. This oil spill, or should I
say leak, is a man made blunder of historic size. We are all
going to be affected by it for a long time. We can point fingers
and determine who is at fault, but a more serious question still
needs to be answered. How are we going to clean up the mess,
restore the fish habitat, oyster beds, and nesting grounds of
the birds, save the beaches , and get cheap gas at the pump? I
hope God spares us any hurricanes in the Gulf this year. Say
your prayers.
Detroit seems to be on an economic rebound of small scale. The
Detroit Schools have started releasing projects. That is a
positive move. Robert Bob is trying to save the city’s public
education system.
We are seeing small jobs to bid in numbers we haven’t seen in a
year or two. Some auto related work also. We have lived thru
times that have taken many of our competitors. That having been
said, we see new names all the time but most are familiar faces.
Resurrected ambitions that can’t rest. Good luck, numbers are
very low and breaking even is the norm today. That doesn’t leave
much to build a company on. How those guys do it and make money
is beyond me. Maybe it’s a different product they deliver.
Summer is here, family and friends are planning something for
each weekend till fall. It is so fun to see everyone with a
tan. I spend most weekends on the water at the lake. I love to
fish and boat. Golf has entered back into my life so I suppose
I’ll find time for the links also. I am perfecting my foot
wedge nicely this year.
Work Hard…. Play Hard …….Enjoy the life God has given you!!
